Gold extracted by amalgamation or cyanidation contains a variety of impurities, including zinc, copper, silver, and iron. Two methods are commonly employed for purification: the Miller process and the Wohlwill process. The Miller process is based on the fact that virtually all the impurities present in gold combine with gaseous chlorine more readily than gold does at temperatures equal to or greater than the melting point of gold. The impure gold is therefore melted and gaseous chlorine is blown into the resulting liquid. The impurities form chloride compounds that separate into a layer on the surface of the molten gold. Our Business
Euro Gold Refinely is focused on discovering, acquiring and developing a portfolio of good quality gold producing assets in East Africa. We currently operates three areas.
Gold production will progressively increase to more than 500,000 ounces per annum by 2023.
How gold is mined
Depending on the geological and ground conditions, gold can be mined from open pits as well as shallow and deep underground mines.
In numerous mines around the world, the focus on mechanised mining processes has increased as the gold industry has become more modernized. It is a special priority in Uganda, both to engineer out dangers and safety concerns and to maintain mining profitability.
